Parents are responsible for failures among children

The Arch Bishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said parents were responsible for producing failures by not allowing them to enjoy their innocent childhoods. During a meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Gampaha Ajith Basnayake he said parents compelled their children to attend tuition classes on Sundays.

“Gampaha is a fast developing area. The people will not flock to Colombo, wasting their time and money if its suburbs were well developed.

However, the number of motor vehicles on roads is increasing. Politicians should have a closer relationship with village folk and relieve them of their problems. It is also a matter of concern that nowadays people cause extensive damage to the natural resource. An effective plan should be implemented to plant trees for timber without ruining our forest reserves. People in many other countries attempt to live in harmony with nature while Sri Lankans have distanced themselves from this practice.

Children depend on instant food and beverages instead of home made traditional foods. Meanwhile most tele-dramas portraying family disputes have failed to give a fruitful message to children.
